It’s time to get back into Social Media.
I still think that Social Media Marketing is strong. You can promote your business in a great way. There are so many different Social Media Websites these days and they are still growing. The one I want to write about today is Facebook. Facebook is probably one of the most popular Social Media Networks today and they are still growing.
I’ll briefly give you the history of Facebook, then I’ll let you know the advantages of using Facebook to promote your business. Especially for beginners. Yes, if you are just starting and want to increase your traffic, then Social Media is a great way to start. It’s very easy to make a lot of friends and have a great following.
History Of Facebook
On February 4, 2004, Facebook was launched. It’s owned and operated by Facebook. It was founded by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommate Eduardo Saverin.
Originally it was intended for membership to founders of Harvard students. It soon spread to other colleges in the Boston area and the Ivy League. Soon after it started at most universities in Canada and the United States.
By September of 2006, Facebook was available to everyone of age 13 and older, who has a valid email address. On August 26, 2008, there were more than 100 million users and at the end of 2014 there are more than 1,390 million and still growing as you can see from the chart below.
Today Facebook is available in just about every country around the world. It’s amazing because you can communicate with anyone in the World.
This is just a brief history of Facebook. There is a lot more, but that is not really what this post is about. I just thought it would be good to know a little bit about what you are into.
Promoting On Facebook
Facebook Marketing is a very great way to promote your website and/or business. You do need to be careful, though, Facebook is changing the way it does things. I’ll get into that a little later in this post. If you are just starting out, you can do some of the free ways to promote yourself on Facebook. Later down the line, there are some paid ways that can go a long way.
If you already have a Facebook account, you need to open up a fan page. But if not, no worries, you can sign up for a free Facebook account. Having a Fan page has it’s advantages if done right. Whatever your niche is, that is the kind of audience you are trying to reach. If you have more than 1 niche or website, you can open another fan page for the other niche.
You have to make your business come alive. Post regularly, write great content. The most important part is to follow up on comments. When people comment, you need to be on top and reply back. Interact with them. Get to know the people that continue to come back. Show people that you care, because this is your business and you should care.
Ads are another great way to get your brand known. More than 1.4 million people use Facebook to connect with what matters the most. More than 900 million visits every day. With Facebook ads, you choose the type of people you want to reach. That will be the kind of ads that will be placed on Facebook, for the audience you are trying to reach. So you see, you control the ads you place.
When you open up your Facebook account, you see the ads on your page. Those ads are put on there by the people trying to get their brand name out there. Facebook ads can drive online sales, increase local sales, promote your app if you have one and raise brand awareness.
Placing ads does cost, but can be pretty cheap. That is because you control the budget that you are willing to spend on these ads. It really depends on the size of your audience and budget. The minimum amount you can spend per day on ads is $1.00. So that is pretty cheap.
You set the budget. After you reach the budget you set, then the ads will stop. Let’s say if you put $100 a week, then when you reach that amount it will stop. Depending on how many people click on your ads. This can come in your favor if you are targeting the right kind of audience.
Boost Your Post
Now going back to the Fan page. I want to briefly tell you how can boost a post that you posted on your Fan page.
Whenever you share a post it will ask you if you want to boost your post. It’s easy to do but does cost.
Tap boost post. choose your budget based on how many people you want to reach. Tap boost post. When you reach your budget, then the boost your post will stop. You have complete control when it comes to spending money on these ideas. It’s all up to you.
My Final Words
Social Media is now and the perfect place in the future to advertise your brand. The Fan page is a free way to get your brand out there. The ads and boosting your post is a paid way to advertise. But is very cheap. The good thing is that your control the budget that you spend.
If you are low on funds, just do the paid ways when you think you are ready. In the meantime, do it the free way.
