Herbalife Distributor, Is It Worth It?

The product is good, but don’t work for them.

Hello, welcome to Blog Central. This is where you will learn if Herbalife is a great place to start a home business with.

I’ve been wanting to do a review on Herbalife for a while now. So here we go, let’s talk about working as a Distributor for Herbalife. When I first started trying to find an online job and was searching, this is what I found. I thought, man I could do this. How hard can selling weight loss products really be? Well let me tell you, it was not as easy as I thought. In this review, this is what I will be going over.

  1. The Company
  2. The Owner
  3. The products
  4. Your job
  5. Rating 30 out of 100
  6. Final Verdict

Now maybe some people have had success at this, but I found it to be a scam in the sense that the training was horrible. When I first started they just wanted my money, at least, that is the way I felt about it. I’ll let you decide after you read this review.

The Company

Herbalife International is a company based on the health and wellness industry. They offer nutrition supplements, weight management, sports nutrition and personal care products. This company has been around since 1980, so there must be some truth behind the products they offer. Herbalife distributes their products in 91 countries.

In 1985, the California Attorney General sued the company for making inflated claims about the efficacy of its products. Herbalife settles for $850.000 but admitted to no wrongdoing. The way I look at it is if you settle a lawsuit out of court than you are guilty. That’s just my opinion.

The Owner

Mark Hughes
Mark Huges the founder of Herbalife

Let me briefly tell you about the owner of Herbalife. In February of 1980, Mark Hughes began selling original Herbalife weight management product from the trunk of his car. His first product was a protein shake designed to help people manage their weight. I have tried these shakes and, believe me, they are good. He used a direct selling, multi-level marketing model.

Mark Huges died at the age of 44 on May 20, 2000. He died of an accidental overdose of alcohol and doxepin, an anti-depression. The company was still growing and was acquired for $685 million by J.H. Whitney and company and Golden Gate Capital which took the company private again.

The Products

Herbalife has a lot of products to choose from. Either they work or not, that is the question? When I tried working for them and had some of the products, my daughter tried some of them, but I don’t think they really worked. She lost weight by following some other ways from a website called losing weight with Pat. I don’t know, maybe they work for some people. Here is a list of some of the categories they offer.

Weight Management

  • Program
  • Formula 1 shakes mix

    Herbalife Products
A few out of a line of products that Herbalife offers

  • Protein
  • Enhancers
  • Healthy snacks

Targeted Nutrition

  • Heart Health
  • Women’s Health
  • Men Health
  • Children Health
  • Healthy Aging
  • Digestive Health
  • Immune Health
  • Stress Management

Energy and Fitness

  • Energy and Fitness
  • Herbalife24

Outer Nutrition

  • Herbalife Skin
  • Herbal Aloe Bath and Body Care
  • Skin Revitalizers
  • Body Essentials

So as you can see they offer an assortment of products. So there is something for everyone. I won’t downgrade their products just working for them which I will discuss in the next section.

Your Job

No money
Don’t be fooled and throw you money away

Now the Job aspect of Herbalife. This is what got me, I saw the ad in a magazine. So I entered all my information. A lady called me, we chatted and she made it sound so good. I thought, gee I could do this, at least, I thought. She got me signed up and instantly she wanted me to order the products. No training, not telling me how this works. Usually, I would have hung up but I went ahead and did it. She made a call and told the person the products I needed. It cost almost $500.00. Well, the shipment came to my house. I could not get rid of any of it. I tried for months with no success. My mentor never told me what to do. It really sucked. On top of that, I had to pay $49.95 as a start-up fee.

As a distributor, you had to sell the products and try and recruit people. They say you can make a lot of money if you do this. You end up spending more than what you make. It sucks that they make it sound better than what it really is. So you see, this is not a very good idea. In my opinion, MLM marketing is not a smart thing to get into. So before you sign up for Herbalife, investigate it before you get into it.

Herbalife, rating 30
The Rating for Herbalife

I gave them a rating of 30 out of 100. The reason for this rating was the job aspect of Herbalife, not the products. Actually, I liked the shake, they tasted pretty good. But there was no money to be made, at least for me. You decide, check out other reviews on Herbalife. See for yourself. Do you really think you can do this?

The lack of training is why I really gave them a 30. Should be lower but I’ll give them a little credit, not a lot, though.

Final Verdict

My Final Verdict on Herbalife is a scam. The US Federal Trade Commission has opened a formal investigation into Herbalife, the multi-level marketing company that hedge fund manager Bill Ackman has called a Pyramid Scheme. So this is another reason not to try it. Their stock has fallen by 50%. I really don’t see them being around too much longer.

My Final Words

What do you think? Is this for you? Well, it was not for me. So I hope you have read this review with an open mind. It’s up to you if you think this could be for you, go for it.
